La Rada – spazio per l’arte contemporanea (space for contemporary art) is a non-profit cultural space founded in 1996 in Locarno, specialising in contemporary art.
The space consistently presents significant examples of emerging artistic practices at the local, national and international levels. Over the course of nearly thirty years of activity, La Rada has continually evolved, setting new and increasingly ambitious goals.
Operating from the peripheral context of the Canton of Ticino, La Rada is committed to presenting and supporting practices that reflect developments in contemporary art both in Switzerland and beyond its borders. As part of its mission, the space regularly produces exhibited works and also acts as a producer of video and film projects.
Through the continuity and perseverance of its activities, La Rada has established itself within the cultural landscape as a platform fostering exchange and growth between Swiss artists—while maintaining a strong focus on local practitioners—and international artists.
The La Rada Committee currently consists of Alessio Binda (1989, artist and teacher), Geo Quadri (1991, lawyer and curator), Carolina Sanchez (1989, accountant and curator) and Yimei Zhang (1990, artist, photographer and curator), with the active collaboration of Stella Rosangela Kiyomi Spinedi (1999, transdisciplinary artist and curator) and Mosé Melchiorre (1998, electrician and Filmmakers Academy assistant at the Locarno Film Festival). They will be formally presented as members of the Committee at the 2026 General Assembly.
