Venerdì 3 agosto alle ore 18, la rada, a Locarno, inaugurerà l‘esposizione The Missing Image, ampia collettiva di videoarte, fotografia e performance.
A Locarno per molti anni è stato facile entrare in un ambito artistico particolare, interstiziale tra varie discipline: la videoarte. Infatti vi è stato prima un piccolo, ma curato e partecipato festival di videoarte e poi il grande Festival internazionale del film ha esposto opere di videoarte in una sezione apposita e in bei „dispositivi“ ad ingresso libero, posti anche in luoghi inconsueti, come il lungolago di Ascona.
Purtroppo negli ultimi anni non è più così e alla rada si è ritenuto importante far ritornare un‘immagine mancante: quella della videoarte, ambito parallelo a quello del cinema di ricerca e d’artista, che comunque è presente nel Film festival.
Va aggiunto che la sede della rada è posta sul percorso che dalle sale principali di proiezione del Film festival portano a Piazza Grande e al centro di Locarno, e il grande pubblico presente – sia locale che internazionale – potrà così fermarsi di pomeriggio e sera alla rada, per vedere opere filmiche peculiari e altre opere, con ingresso gratuito.
In quest‘occasione si è cercato di recuperare esempi significativi della produzione video italiana del nuovo millennio – con opere di Marinella Senatore e Valerio Rocco Orlando – assieme ad autori emergenti: gli svizzeri Giorgia Piffaretti, If (Ivan Berdondini), Lisa Lurati, Marko Miladinovic e la performer e ricercatrice italiana sul tema della sessualità Titta Cosetta Raccagni.
Assieme a queste immagini in movimento saranno presenti immagini statiche, sempre molto particolari e con un notevole contenuto di ricerca: le fotografie realizzate dagli svizzeri Lisa Lurati, Bianca Pedrina e Gregory Hari e dai brasiliani Lina Kaplan Vieira e Paulo Wirz. Della fotografa basilese Bianca Pedrina sarà disponibile anche la sua sapida pubblicazione Photoprobleme.
Si è anche voluto inserire un elemento vitale tramite quattro performance dal vivo che si svolgeranno tutte nel periodo del festival.
L’inaugurazione di venerdì 3 agosto includerà un’azione del giovane e noto performer zurighese Gregory Hari, poi giovedì 9 un altro importante performer d’arte, l’italiano Sergio Racanati, realizzerà alle 22 un‘altra performance ideata appositamente per l’esposizione.
Venerdì 10 alle 22 la rada darà spazio alla proposta di un festival piccolo ma interessante, Cineconcerto Festival di Montecarotto, in provincia di Ancona, con il video Treep di Larry Luminari, con musica live.
Infine l’ultima serata del festival, sabato 11, vedrà alle 18.30 la performance audiovisiva di Andrea Marinelli, attivo in una ricerca musicale elettronica, che propone assieme a suoi visual basati su semplici lavagne luminose.
Tutte le performance e l’esposizione sono a ingresso libero.
La mostra è curata da Riccardo Lisi e durerà fino a sabato 8 settembre 2018, ma con orari particolari e differenziati: fino a sabato 11 agosto la mostra sarà aperta tutti i giorni, dalle 17 alle 22. Poi ci sarà una pausa fino a giovedì 23 agosto, quando l’esposizione riaprirà fino all‘8 settembre, dal giovedì al sabato, dalle 14 alle 19 e su appuntamento possibile anche nei giorni festivi.

Friday, August 3rd at 6 pm, la rada, in Locarno, will open the show The Missing Image, a wide collective of video art, photography and performance.
In Locarno, for many years it was easy to enter a particular, interstitial artistic context between various disciplines: video art. In fact there was first a small, but careful and participated video art festival, and then the great International film festival has shown video art works in a special section and in beautiful devices with free entry, also placed in unusual locations, such as the lakefront of Ascona.
Unfortunately, in recent years it is no longer so, and at la rada we considered important to give back a missing image: that of video art, a parallel context to that of research and artists‘ cinema, which is still present in the Film Festival.
It should be added that the building of la rada is located on the path that, from the main screening rooms of the Film festival lead to Piazza Grande and the center of Locarno, and the large public present – both local and international – will be able to stop in the afternoon and evening at la rada, to see peculiar film works and others, with free admission.
On this occasion we tried to recuperate significant examples of the Italian video production of the new millennium – with works by Marinella Senatore and Valerio Rocco Orlando – together with emerging authors: the Swiss Giorgia Piffaretti, If (Ivan Berdondini), Lisa Lurati, Marko Miladinovic and the Italian performer and researcher on the theme of sexuality Titta Cosetta Raccagni.
Along with these moving images will be present static images, always pecurial and with a considerable research content: the photographs taken by the Swiss Lisa Lurati, Bianca Pedrina and Gregory Hari and the Brazilians Lina Kaplan Vieira and Paulo Wirz. By the Basler photographer Bianca Pedrina her sapid publication Photoprobleme will also be available.
We also wanted to incorporate a vital element through four live performances that will all take place during the festival.
The inauguration on Friday 3 August will include an action by the young and well-known Zurich performer Gregory Hari, then on Thursday 9 another important performer of art, the Italian Sergio Racanati, will realize another ad hoc performance at the 10 pm .
Friday 10 at 10 pm, la rada will give space to the proposal of a small but interesting festival, Cineconcerto Festival of Montecarotto, in the province of Ancona, with Treep, a video by Larry Luminari, with live music.
Finally, the last evening of the festival, Saturday 11, will see at 6.30 pm the audiovisual performance by Andrea Marinelli, active in electronic music research, which he proposes together with his visuals based on simple overhead projectors.
All performances and the exhibition are free admission.
The exhibition is curated by Riccardo Lisi and will last until Saturday, September 8th, 2018, but with peculiar opening timing: until Saturday August 11th the exhibition will be open every day, from 5 to 10 pm. Then there will be a break until Thursday August 23rd, when the exhibition will reopen until September 8th from Thursday to Saturday, from 2 to 7 pm and by appointment, also on holidays.
